Humor is Something We All Need
February 23, 2009Caregivers need a little humor in their lives - on a daily basis. I remember, all too well, the days of uncontrollable weeping, not knowing if Beth would survive. I remember trying to rebuild a life with a wife who didn't know who I was. I remember the pain and heartache of watching her deal with a brain that was unfamiliar to her and that was doing things even more unfamiliar.
I didn't think much about humor in those days. And I certainly didn't see it as medication that I needed to keep on going and to keep going stronger. I needed humor in my life ... and Beth needed humor in her life even more than I did. Once we made that discovery, everything seemed to get better. And I mean everything.
We have a website that has a growing humor section that you might find helpful. It's a part of Online Little Rock called Arkansas Humor. We're recently added a couple pages about Larry the Cable Guy and Jeff Foxworthy, and we have a lot of people sending us funny stuff on a regular basis.
Maybe it will help you, too.
