So what do you think of Clinical Trials?? Do you believe they are one of the most productive way of improving science/treatments? Or do you think its wrong to treat humans like guinea pigs??

    A clinical trial on what?

    And for what should be posted before making a survey because some trials may be helpful how ever others are harmful.

    Thats why I feel impartial if we are testing a drug for a common problem and the test subjects are all on the same page that one thing how ever if we are just wanting to see if there is a side effect no way.

    I went with "impartial" for a reason. I was invited by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center to be a part of two TBI studies, one that will attempt to discern the effectiveness of new MRI technology, and one that involves a series of cognitive tests. I was told that I will not be privy to my own results, but that the study is designed to help better understand how the human brain is changed by TBI. My fingers are crossed. I'm really hopeful that the resolution of the new MRI is better than the images I've been presented with thus far. I joked with my neurologist the first time I can remember seeing him about how Google can count the shingles on the roof of my apartment and show the world where it needs repaired for free, but he was charging me untold dollars (paid for in large part by my insurance company) and couldn't tell me what specific cells out of the 100 billion in my head were damaged and what I should expect as a result with any more accuracy than a carnival palm reader. He laughed at the sadness of the situation.

    Well how willing are you to do a clinical trial in general? If the CT was all in the name of finding new cures/therapies/treatments for TBI would you be happy doing any CT? It is natural to have reservations about going into a CT program but what I was asking was really general feelings, you happy to do a CT?

    I've actually participated in clinical trials.  It's hard to get into them.  The last time I went to Stanford I gave them blood for study and had a bunch of forms.  Stanford did my last 4 brain surgeries for research, or "clinical trials".  I wouldn't be able to afford them.  Clinical trials are a risk.  That's why they are called trials.  You won't know unless you try.

    Don brought up the point that causes me to favor clinical trials. Right now, most doctors seem to be less accurate than a carnival palm reader. Perhaps with more trail-and-error, they can learn things that will provide long-lasting help for our community.
