Snoezelen or controlled multisensory stimulation is used for people with mental disabilities, and involves exposing them to a soothing and stimulating environment, the "snoezelen room". These rooms are specially designed to deliver stimuli to various senses, using lighting effects, color, sounds, music, scents, etc. The combination of different materials on a wall may be explored using tactile senses, and the floor may be adjusted to stimulate the sense of balance. I not only believe and think, but absolutely KNOW that alternative methods of therapy, treatment and rehab can be profoundly effective.  I'm living proof that these types of alternative and non-traditional therapies can and DO have better results and outcomes than the standard physical therapy and medications that doctors tend to rely completely on.  I've used Chiropractic, nutritional balancing, Acupuncture, meditation and cold laser therapy to get amazing and profound results that people still can't believe.  What's more is that it's FAR less expensive and produces awesome results with none of the side effects that drugs produce.

I don't know about this but appreciate the info to learn about it. Wouldn't this go along with the relearning aspect of rehab? I have many issues even though I don't have a TBI. I have chronic severe pain and fibromyalgia. These affect my mental ability greatly and I have to do exercises daily to maintain focus. (I use puzzles, computer games, and reading). I have to be very careful at work to maintain mental focus, physical stamina, balance, and pain. This would not be possible without many therapies.
