The Social Security Administration announced that monthly Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits will not automatically increase in 2010 because there was no increase in the Consumer Price Index from the third quarter of 2008 to the third quarter of 2009.

    President Obama announced his support for an additional $250 Economic
    Recovery Payment to the seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities
    who are struggling to make ends meet and who face no COLA for benefits
    in 2010.
