    Cognitive problems and memory problems are closely tied to one another. Angela mentioned always being asked what day it was by therapists. The thought processes (cognition) had to pull the answer from memory.

    Beth completely lost the multiplication tables from her memory, or at least the ability to access that memory. So, if she was given a cognitive test that involved multiplication, she was up a creek. However, she fully remembered how to operate a calculator and could quickly produce the correct answer. Still, however, she would score low on cognitive testing because calculators aren't allowed.

    That's why it's so difficult to group brain injury effects into "this is how it is" categories.

    That is so much me. Cognitive and communication problems. I don't even know what cognitive means - but know that is one of my problems. I don't understand the meaning of adult long words. Like words you read from the news paper.

    It really makes me feel stupid and it is frustrating.
