using the computer
Typing with just one hand can be difficult. Sure, you can do capital letters by
first hitting the CAPS LOCK key and then remembering to turn it off, but what
about CTRL-ALT-DELETE? The way to do this is Sticky Keys. If all you need is
Sticky Keys, then just hit the shift key 5 times. Select OK.
If you need more than that then there is the Accessibility Wizard. I don't
really need that any more, but it was very useful. To get to it, go to START
and click PROGRAMS. Then click ACCESSORIES and then ACCESSIBILITY. Finally
click on ACCESSIBILITY WIZARD. Just check the boxes you need. The computer
will do everything for you. I've had mine make text bigger, which can just be
useful for age. Another thing that was useful was having the computer making a
sound for each key stroke.
If you are a professional who comes into contact with persons who have
disabilities, then this would be beneficial. You could help set up the
computer, especially if someone else is doing the typing. I started very slow,
using one finger. The Wizard slowed down the mouse (I used a track ball). It
also eliminated the need for a key guard.
