Yippee I'll be a senior this year!
I sustained a left-right Traumatic Brain Injury on 11/22/97. My bottom left three ribs were broken and my brain slammed at sixty miles per hour against both sides of my skull. I was in a coma for one month and came out of my coma three days before Christmas. I graduated with my class and went to a junior college were I got an Associates in Science. The biggest kicker for me was learning how to control my muscle spasms while at Rose State College.
AND NOW...
I am a 12 going on 13 year survivor of a left/right Traumatic Brain Injury. I have managed to make a full recovery in that time. Last fall I was able to go two weeks without having any muscle spasms! I am going to be starting my senior year of college and will be getting a Bachelor's in Universal Studies. My three areas of focus are Health Education Promotion, Physical Education, and Nutritional Sciences. In January of 2002 I created TBI Raiders with the mission of helping students and young adults who had sustained a TBI succeed at the dreams they want to achieve in both school and life. Besides being an online club it is also a volunteer service that people here in Oklahoma can become involved with and also an opportunity to volunteer online. Volunteers would have the opportunity to gain job skills, leadership skills, and so much more. I wrote a paper on disabilities and highlighted TBI back in January of 2005 when my state representative asked me to write a paper on disabilities and he shared it with some members of the Health and Human Resources Committee, was recognized in May of 2006 through a Oklahoma House of Representatives Resolution Bill that was passed unanimously that recognized volunteers who helped TBI survivors in their recovery, and then in September I spoke before the Oklahoma House of Representatives' Health and Human Resources Committee on TBI when they did a study on TBI. Lead up to now and I have scheduled two and will arrange another event to speak to some high school juniors and seniors in August. I have a web ring of websites dedicated on the subject of TBI.

Jeez, I so need to meditate!
I'll tell you why too. Meditation is the #1 thing that will completely calm and relax my entire body. I need to meditate so I can clearly review and think about things. Due to my short term memory I forget to contact some of the volunteers for TBI Raiders. But I sent an email to two of them and hopefully they will get back in touch with me. I am waiting to hear how a couple of state representatives are doing in regards to TBI Raiders. I am aware that they are discusssing the organization ~ hint: I called one of the secretaries the week after I had met with one of them. Eva said she would keep me updated on how things progressed. I am also working on creating new banners and publications for TBI Raiders.

Preparing for the new year
I am preparing for the new year and what I will be doing to help students (both high school and college age) and young adults who have sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury. I had a wonderful Christmas this morning! I've loved the presents I've gotten at my dad's side of the family, my best friend/love of my life's side of the family, and then at my parents. I'm planning on getting back into cooking almost everyday. I'm working on preparing a letter to send to a local high school's advisor for the newspaper in hopes she'll or one of the students will interview me for an article that they'll hopefully want to do on TBI Raiders. I'm thinking of also sending it to colleges and universities and another local high school. This is also my way of helping out the troops. My father is a first sergent in the Army Reserves and I really want to do something to help them. So I would like to do something to help soldiers who are returning home and have been injured. Well later ya'll!

Not looking forward to life if Obama wins
That has to do with the fact I really won't feel like my voice won't matter. I've already had someone else tell me if I have muscle spasms or if I had seizures and I couldn't listen to a debate without having a muscle spasm than I shouldn't vote because obviously I'm not itelligent enough. She whined about other things that if she had obviously read my post and thought about it for a while she would have realized what I was saying. Then I'm pissed as hell that Obama is planning on dismantling the army and creating citizen whatever you want to call it. So I guess we'll have to defend ourselves if he's elected. He doesn't think it's fair we look into he aligns himself with...hello his various associates are terrorists or just people who hate America! Then let's consider the fact when we leave the middle east, we'll be getting attacked on our soil and many more people will be dying/sustaining a TBI or other disabilities amongst other serious ailments. His ego is just to pick for his head. If you like him fine but don't think you have any business coming after me and attacking me for what I believe/think. Last I checked this is America! -

Secret Project
Well for the most part it's sort of secret. It concerns something I am wanting to do for other TBI survivors. I've already emailed some of my contacts. It's something I'm going to try to get going here in Oklahoma. I stopped by to talk to the person who was my favorite teacher yesterday. After talking to her she said she would help me get students involved in TBI Raiders. This was the teacher whom attended a training on how to work with students with TBI along with my mother and high school counselor and then trained my teacher on how to work with me and help me learn and succeed.
So if you live in Oklahoma and are a member on this site please get in touch with me. Or if you live in a state that is really doing something to try and help survivors please get in touch with me.
